ABSTRACT
The digital transformation of education has accelerated rapidly, extending learning environments from physical classrooms to online platforms, cloud services, and mobile applications. While these innovations expand access to education, they also expose educational institutions to myriad cybersecurity threats. The digital transformation in India—accelerated by government initiatives such as Digital India and the integration of online learning platforms—has created immense opportunities for accessibility and innovation. This paper explores the emerging challenges in educational cybersecurity and trends that are shaping how schools, universities, and ed-tech providers secure data, infrastructure, and privacy. Key areas of focus include advanced threat landscapes, vulnerabilities in remote learning technologies, data privacy concerns, artificial intelligence (AI)–powered attacks, and the integration of security frameworks in educational curricula. The main aim is to provide a holistic overview that guides stakeholders in developing resilient cybersecurity ecosystems for education.
