ABSTRACT
This article is focused on web literacy and its use in the present era. In the present web era,
there is an information explosion that has created a peculiar situation where users feel
confused with the abundance of information, available in various forms and formats. Hence,
web literacy is an effective tool to enable them to be well equipped with all the abilities and
understandings to use the web-based resources optimally and wisely. Web literacy is
considered as the 4th fundamental skill next to reading, writing and arithmetic. It is an
effective tool in the hands of people to thrive in today‟s web era that enables them to not only
to access, evaluate and use web based resources and services ethically but also to participate
by creating and contributing their own content on various digital platforms.
